I'm using it to watch xvid avi files on an mvp. I love this program, I had been struggling a lot with trying to get videos to display correctly on my tv. Thanks for your hard work, I don't want to seem like I'm complaining, just trying to help refine Smile

Just about everytime I start an avi file the three windows show up for a second or two then it shuts all back down, the second time I try the same file it will work.

Also, when I load several files into a queue to pre encode to mpg, if I use any option like backing up a file first or moving files when finished I'll come back to see the queue finished and none of the transcoded files. Sometimes it will work if I do nothing to the originals, but sometimes even then it'll drop out some of them and I think its the same issue as the transcode on the fly dropping out on the first try.

My gut reaction is that the problem is with hunter because if I do a manual transcode it always works every time the first time. The only time there is any issue is when hunter is involved, either doing an on the fly transcode to mvp or when using the queue.

Thanks again

I too was curious:Smile from the wiki-Z-process:

Quote:
[B]Hunter.exe
  • A required applet, included in ZProcess.zip. It runs whenever ZProcess must spawn another window like fmpeg.exe or comskip.exe. Hunter uses very little horsepower and is able to be very objective while it watches pop-up windows. When ZProcess spawns another utility, it suspends its own operation, trusting Hunter to keep track of things while it’s asleep. When the spawned window either gracefully exits, or is forced closed, Hunter cleans up the rest of the windows.

Yea, whenever a transtomvp starts three processes start on the server PC. A zprocess (ffmpeg) window opens, a ffmpeg dos window, and a hunter window.

Thanks for using ZProcess. Sorry for the delay in responding.

Firstly, yes, I know there's a problem starting a Transcode. Second time is the charm. It's a pain... I haven't been able to find out why it happens. There was a time when I thought it was related to how GB-PVR waits for a transcoded file to be created... re: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=21572

I'm still not sure, but I haven't had the time I'm afraid.

As far as using the queue feature, there have been inprovements where on can do away with the TranscodeQ.bat altogether. Have you been using the new technique as outlined here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=1...tcount=204

I think you're bang on when you say there's an issue with hunter, cause it doesn't happen when you don't use it. So I have to ask if you're using the most current versions of all the software...

* Quick Update - ZProcess (ffmpeg.exe) .734:http://members.shaw.ca/ztest/ffmpeg.exe
* Quick Update - Latest Hunter .71:http://members.shaw.ca/ztest/Hunter.exe
* Full Zip Install ZProcess.zip: http://members.shaw.ca/ztest/ZProcess.zip

Let me know if you're up to date and still having trouble...

The 'start a transcode twice' issue is certainly a nuisance, but it still works, and a person doesn't have to leave to couch to deal with the problem...

As such, I will probably deal with that issue when I rewrite some code that will use a different transcoding engine. ffmpeg doesn't seem to transcode perfectly valid MPGs, and so the resulting MPG doesn't shuttle forward or backward very well.

I was looking into using mencoder, but then started to notice people still having the shuttling issue.

I haven't given up on mencoder, and will certainly be revisiting this as soon as I get some time...
