I use DVD shrink to rip my DVD's so that I can use them on my HTPC, but there are numerous files. How do I consolidate them into one file so that they can be used uninterupted? Google doesn't show a guide for it, all it tells is how to burn it to disk, which is easy enough.

"Edit", "Preferences", "Output Files" - uncheck the box marked "Split VOB files into 1Gb chunks".

Ahh, then that will make it one large file correct?

Even after I uncheck the split video files box, I still get the chunks, and have no idea how to combine them....

mplayer has an excellent single file rip ability, it rips un-changed video from dvd's to a single .vob file...Smile
look in the options for -dump
i think i have a batch somewhere all setup...let me know if you can't find the options..

ahh, here tis...:
mplayer -dvd-device H: -dumpfile "movie.mpg" -dumpstream dvd://6 > mpdump.log

dumps title 6 from dvd in h: drive, so replace h: with your drive and the dvd://6 with the title of main movie..[usually 1]
to use with a directory of already dumped files, substitute h: with the path root of dvd rip...[-dvddevice "d:\rips\cars" ]
also you can rename the movie.mpg to anything you wish..

Remember: only write to a NTFS drive cuz these files are normally over 4g so fat32 will choke...

or do a 're-author' in dvdshrink and select movie only and play the video_ts.ifo

Did you know that if you browse to the dir in video library, dvd rips are playable and appear as the dir.dvd ? Big Grin

I use would AutoGK. You can select the .ifo file and it will join everything together into one nice divx or xVid file for your viewing pleasure. I use xVid 40% quality and find it a great size/quality for a 70 inch DLP. There was a write-up in an issue of MaximumPC a couple of months ago if you need more details. You can get AutoGK here:
