I wouldn't run into the rfb protocol slow downs but they have to be turned off during GBPVR's OSD updates for pause, mini-guides, program info etc because of a conflict for the bottom of the screen.

Actually I was hoping that you would build in the decoder to pull the captions out natively on mvpmc.
Btw,
Is there a site that you know of that describes the internal hardware in the MVP?

None, it is in the mpeg stream like the WSS information. mvpmc would use one of its emulation mode Go key extensions to toggle them off and unless it senses alpha channel updates from GBPVR when it would just turn off the CC'ing until GBPVR reset the OSD surface.

I did that and I can partially display them (I don't use control characters yet) to a telnet window already but this is something I want a lot more help from users with. First you have to decide if mvpmc meets your needs and then see if this is worth changing from the Hauppauge dongle.

A graphics person who can create a nice font would also help, the only font that I have right now is the pne that shows up when you start emulation mode.

If you want to continue this discussion I would suggest moving to the mvpmc forum.

Here's a start (I doesn't really get into the revision H's however).

Resurrecting an old thread, but I'm clearly behind the times when it comes to close captioning. Of course, I have a PVR150 and PVR500, and I've only been able to use PVRX2 in Overlay mode so didn't expect the CC status would change anytime soon. I just updated my HTPC hardware and using VMR9 with the Cyberlink decoder -- POW! Close captions! The WAF just increased by about 200%.

...and then the WAF dropped down again because the subtitles didn't show on the MVP. So, I saw the post about MPR2SRT (thanks for that!), and the WAF went back up 200% again.

...and then the WAF dropped down again because the subtitles on the MVP were so out of sync.

Well, after trying several different things, I think I finally have it perfectly fine tuned. I changed the <SubtitleDelayMVP> and <SubtitleDelay> to "-3000" and it seems to be perfect on every show I tried -- whether a 30, 60, or 120 minute show (so the bitrate likely changed).

I really like the SRT method of CC because I can easily turn them off for sports shows or other live broadcast recordings (which are just inherently horrible about very delayed CC). But for the wife's shows, the subtitles are there and work pretty well. I like the font a lot, and like that it's not so big. The default CC that shows up with the Cyberlink/VMR9 setting are really big, although the positioning is nice, I'd rather have the smaller CC fonts.

Thanks for this, folks. Wish I'd seen it a year earlier, as I've been using GBPVR for almost 4 years now!

GBPVR system info intentionally left blank because I'm personally
insulted that you can't remember it from previous signatures.

dual tuners, yes, both usable at same time, very nice picture quality...

pBS, a while ago I added a FAQ in Wiki about this very subject: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FAQ/General#toc13. I am pretty sure all info in there is still valid. I tried all decoders, only ati was flawless.
