My DSM-520 media player died and all other media players seem to have troubles too, so I'm investigating building an HTPC.
GBPVR appears to be the only software that will be compatible with the QAM portion of my HVR-1600 tuner cards (next version, right Sub?). I already use and enjoy GBPVR, but one big problem I found for HTPC purposes is the lack of a working fast forward and rewind.
The "skip" functions are nice for getting past a commercial or something, but I watch a lot of how-to shows (building, cooking, gardening, etc.) and often watch them in fast forward till they get to the section I'm interested in. Then I'll play at normal speed from there. Sometimes nothing in the show is of interest, and I end up fast forwarding through the entire show. It would take a lot of "skipping" to accomplish the same thing and would not be very user friendly.
Any chance of a normal fast forward and reverse in the next update? Preferably one with a couple of steps (i.e. first press is twice normal speed, second press is four times normal speed, third press is eight times normal speed). In other words, something that functions just like a VCR or DVD player does.
Thanks,
Anthony
