I've found that a number of recordings jump during plackback, skipping anything from a few seconds to 5 minutes worth of video. Watching the OSD timeline you can see it freeze and/or elapsed-time shown will speed up prior to the jump.

I can repeat this on several GB-PVR installations with a variety of combinations of audio and video decoders. I wonder if it's the GB-PVR .ts reader not handling the file (corruption?) in the best way? VLC and WMP play the file OK.

Any suggestions?

edit: I can supply an example file (or a snippit of it somehow) if required

I'm not sure if this got onto Sub's todo list.

The only time I've seen this on my local dvb-t is on the highest frequency mux where I get a noisy signal when the weather brings rain. It usually starts with pixelation and then a skip. TBH I've not tried viewing it with anything else, just put it down to a crap signal.
One of these days I'll see if I can get an 8 foot pole on the gable end and get the aerial out in the clear.

If this poor signal and timeline weirdness happened during live TV could it possibly cause GB-PVR to crash to desktop?

This all sounds very similar to the problems I reported here: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=42442
- Silent client PVR: HDPlex HS.1 aluminium fanless case / Thin-ITX ASRock H81TM-ITX motherboard / Intel Celeron 1850T CPU / 4GB RAM / 120GB SSD / TBS6982 DBS-S2 [SIZE=1]dual-tuner card / Win10+nPVR+Plex Media Player feeding LG OLED55B6V + Anthem MRX510 AV Receiver / PMC GB1 / B&W / REL speakers.
- Noisy NAS: Xeon / Intel mobo / 16GB RAM / FreeNAS + Ubuntu VMs on VMware ESXi + 12TB RAID

If you can supply a short recording that shows the problem, and vlc plays that section fine, then I'll take a look why GB-PVR isnt playing it.

I get this quite a bit too on my ATSC recordings. As far as I've been able to tell it is related to a glitch in the recorded stream that the ts reader doesn't handle well.

Is there a program available that can take a 2.5gig .ts file and cut out a chunk of it?

I dont know. You might be able to do it with a few cuts from either the beginning or end using this:

CutChunk has a limit of 1000mb. Unfortunately the bad part of the recording is after 1000mb from the start and before 1000mb from the end.

Currently looking for an alternative...
