but before i start - LOVE the new version - was waiting for it to come since seeing something in the wiki and i knew that version 1 was coming - its gotta put GBPVR as one of if not the best PVR apps out there now... well done sub

i was almost tempted with the flashy graphics of vista and its media center but shit me days when i installed this version - im so impressed !!!

my small issue is something to do with directx - because if i use overlay in the old version the problem is not there however if i use DX custom, DX full screen or standard DX i get a small flicker - this seems to happen more with movement and sometimes disappears if i fast forward or rewind. ive tried the DX 9.0b fix but that didnt resolve it so im just wondering if anyone else has come across this - ive tried different video decoders but no change there either - im running an HP Evo D530 SFF with a P4 2.8ghz processor - 1gb ram - and a ATI Radeon 9550 Low Profile video card....

anyone got any ideas on how to fix this ??

thanks in advance - and again congrats sub

edit - ive just gone back and done some testing - it appears that this happens with overlay selected aswell - so the new version has done something to "break" this - no biggie i guess we just have to pause or skip back and forth for a while...

I too was forced into using overlay with the older versions because of the same problem you had with VMR9, although I wouldn`t call it a flicker as such....more of a strobing, a pause or jump back or forward fixed this. I have an onboard geforce 6150 Asus motherboard.

I have just installed the new version 1.0.8 and from what I can see it only supports VMR modes because my strobing has returned even if overlay is selected in the configuration page.

I now have to use the gbpvr.exe 1.0.8 option so I can still use overlay.

In the post above there is a suggestion of using the latest direct x.
I have version 9.0c I take it this is the latest?

I would love a fix for this as it looks like my only option if I want to use the latest gbpvr.

I think Sub mentioned that the new version is VMR9 Custom and FSE.
No VMR9, VMR7 or Overlay supported.

This is quite often a symptom reported by people before finding that using the 9.0b version of quartz.dll fixes it. See the sticky mpeg2 decoding thread for more discussion on it.

Hi Sub,

Thanks for your reply....

I`ve been down the (quartz.dll) root, spent and wasted many hours on it.

Unfortunately didn`t work for me.

Still a hope that someone finds another fix.

The quartz fix was never to fix overlay. Overlay never had the problem it was the other modes that the new version now use.

The quartz fix is not getting the latest version of the file, but extract an older version from direct x 9.0b details can be found in the thread Sub mentions above

even so, this didn`t work for me, but you can give it a try.

If your reading Sub, will you be including gbpvr.exe in future versions?

Probably only for the next six months at most.
