Hi,
I now have two FireDTV-c on my GBPVR system. However, it seems that they do not work independently. I can't record from one and see live tv from the other. Which should be possible??
I have installed both of them, as device number 1 and 2, respectively in the config capture source. I have given them the same EPG mappings to digital channels.
Is there anything special one should think about? The wiki said how one should handle multiple Hauppauge cards, but nothing was said on the FireDTV.
Any ideas?
Thanks (still running 99.12)

Zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Hi,
I have two FireDTV-c, called "Cable" (which I have used for quite some time) and a new one "Cable2". (Also FYI have a PVR150 analog card.)

This is how I do it:
1. Restarted recording service
2. Started GBPVR on server machine
3. Open TV guide
4. Selected a program "Pappa till varje pris" from the channel "TV4 Film". Quick record.
5. Status says "Cable" device is busy recoding. Seems fine.
6. Selected "Discovery" channel and requested live TV of "Blod, svett och olja" (this is with TimeShift).
7. Status says "Cable2" now is busy. Expected. GBPVR waits for data.
7. After approx 5 seconds, a message pops up the file cannot be read.

Looking at the live TV file, it is 0kb.
The other recording file is growing steady on disk as it should.

I have also found the following:
1. Switching the order of devices in config, so that recording chooses Cable2, gives the same effect. So Cable is there unable to produce any file.
2. I started myTheatre on Cable and got live picture. While running that, I started GBPVR and had it timeshift on Cable2. Worked fine. Hence, both devices produce data (here).
3. Because of the results of item 2, I checked Live TV preview mode (no timeshift, so no recording) and restarted. This worked. I paused the show. Then I got a null reference exception (log file containing this exception included).
4. On GBPVR, watching a show using Cable2, I pulled its FireWire cable => show stopped. Expected, of course. Then I changed the order in Config so that next show would be using Cable. I pulled the FireWire of Cable2 => show continued.

This would indicate that GBPVR distinguishes the devices. (I suspected previously that somehow due to a config error, Cable and Cable2 mapped to the same TV card.)

So the problem is simply: While one is recording, the other cannot.
I have the Cyberlink 1307 mux.

I also experienced strange problems while configuring Cable2. Channel mappings for Cable2 affected Cable. I can describe this a bit more if it can be of any use.

This is happening because of a limitation in the third party MultiDec layer were using. It can only operate with one device per process. One recording plus one timeshift = two instances in the one process (GBPVRRecordingService.exe) = failure. One recordings plus one live preview tv = one instance in GBPVRRecordingService.exe and one instance in GBPVR.exe = ok.

Oops.. Should have searched a little bit more in the forum. I saw other posts now related to this issue where you answered similarly. (Hence, my editing the post.)

Can something be done to circumvent the limitation? Perhaps add support for several instances of the recording service? One for each device with multidec.

But of course, fixing the limitation (or rather the bug, I would say) would be preferred and very much appreciated. I would be very willing to try out and give feedback to any improvements (summer vacation now). (I am a little bit disappointed... the new FireDTV is just not so useful after all now :-(.

Is there any information on the progress of this issue? Is it known if it is being addressed?

To be honest, there is nothing GB-PVR can do about it. We just have to hope that the author of the multidec filter will support mulitple instances in future.

Yes, I guess. Can we give the author this this change request? Or maybe that has been done already?
