In the mvpmc command line thread we went through setting the low voume defaults .....but even doing that I still have LOW volume (at max) from the MVP.

My TV is turned up loud to compensate and when I turn to normal TV my ears get blasted off and the kids wake-up. Is there a fix for the MVP itself (even a Hardware hack?) or alternatively a variable RECORDING input volume for a PVR150?

Ta,

I'm not aware of anything relating to the MVP that would help with this.

You could try looking at the Hauppauge tweaktool to see if there is anything that lets you adjust the default volume of your PVR150 recordings.

OK cheers,

Unforunately the tweak tool is defunct for pvr 150/500 driver (higher then 23074), http://www.cask-of-amontillado.com/pvr_tweak.html

This site has a hack for it.. few transistors/resistors ..

(Go back to bed it must be freezing...!!)

I use the tweak tool and driver 2.0.24.23035 which has no timing problems. Works well and allows adjustments to be made.Big Grin

k, the mvpmc command line options are only for lowering the volume, the default is maxium volume, so I'd remove these options in case that's your problem.

I also find the analog volume fine in comparison to other inputs. How is optical out working for you? It could indicate that your source volume is low although if mp3 audio files sound low too its probably a mismatch between your mvp and the input device.

OK, although I did press Volume up on the Remote and it is at max anyway.

Your own analog is fine? Hmmm... IIRC you did mention in another thread that your experience was that other folks complained about the volume being too low..... my google searches show that quite a few at shspvr and sagetv have a similar problem...

My optical out can only be fed into a amp, so of course that works OK as I can boost the Vl that way, but the anaolog goes direct to the TV, so I don't have to put it through the amp....i.e. I'm happy with the TV speakers etc.

I can try that, I haven't tried an MP3 in a while. Thing is, it's fine on the PC.

Besides, a little hardware hack would be fun :-)

Too loud, too quiet, too dark, too bright... I've pretty well read them all. Forums are made for reporting problems after all. I wanted to put my positive experience into the mix.

A simple test is just to try one of the Internet radio streams build into mvpmc.

There's lots of cheap hifi quality headphone amp solutions that would work.

Sorry that came out wrong. I didn't mean to imply that I was doubting yours is OK :o

OK.

Can you elaborate on that? i.e. is it just analog out => the powered headphone amp =>TV?

Basically yes. I'd start by searching cmoy headphone amp. One of setup's is just an mvp, a headphone amp that I plug my Grados into, and a Homeplug connect that I use to listen to internet radio.
