Hello

I know that this is a commonly asked question (I have already done a search) but there seems to be no overall recommendation for which is the best DVB-T card to use for GBPVR.

I used the WinTV Nova-T USB Stick fine for a few weeks, but it has suddenly stopped working (and according to Hauppage it is likely a hardware error). I was thinking of moving to a PCI card-based solution, since I always find USB hardware to be a little but unreliable. So I have been browsing the forums to find out the most reliable and most recommended DVB-T card.

I've seen some recommendations of random cards, and some people say that the WinTV-HVR-1300 is fine, but no overall recommendations.

So, I was wondering, if there are any brands of PCI card that produce better and more reliable results than others, or are there any PCI DVB-T cards that people recommend??? If I went for a PCI card that is branded as working with Media Center 2005 a good choice since they are likely more reliable??

All answers welcome???

I cant provide any first hand recommendations since we dont use DVB-T here, but it seems like most people are happy with Hauppauge Nova-T PCI devices.

I've got a Hauppauge Nova-T 500 PCI twin tuner card. Supplied WinTV software not up to much, but the card works great with gbpvr...

Yeah, it looks like Hauppauge goes down the best, so I guess I'll go with them (and hope the USB experience was down to the naffness of USB!!).

Funny, I thought that the name GB-PVR meant it was some software initially made for UK users in mind!! Guess not, what is the history of the name, out of interest??

Cheers for replies people.

Dont ask Big Grin

Lame I know, but its actually my initials. It was originally going to be a temporary name, but I never got around to changing it.

I am not sure if it is recommended or not, but I got my Adaptec AVC-3610 working well with both tuners working-

although I am running XP pro, with MCE drivers meant for the HP version of this box (found here)

only thing I haven't figured out is that there is one extra hardware device named "eHome Infared Tranciever" which I can't find a driver for that will install properly....
although in my case it wouldn't help, as I got my 3610 without a remote at a thrift shop-
