Same Channels on Different Recording Sources?

Hi All,

Up till now I've had one recording source (one side of a PVR500 to Sat reciever) so this has been a non issue. I've now added the second PVR500 tuner as UHV/VHF tuner source. The second source consists of a small subset of the same channels on the first source (NZ Sky Digital on the first and old fashioned broadcast on the second).

My (possibly stupid) question is, can I somehow have the duplicate channels appear once on the EPG, and have the software choose a source when the channel is required?

Thanks in advance,
JohnO

Ok it was a stupid question - I see elsewhere that channels with the same name are merged together on the EPG and GBPVR chooses a source as required. I just need to ensure the channel names match up.

How bloody typical of GBPVR to do exactly what I wanted!

If a channel is available via multiple capture sources, it is only shown the once in the TV Guide. You dont get to choose which tuner will be used. GB-PVR has some rules for how it allocates the recordings to capture sources.

Its useful to know the general rules so you can order the capture sourcese the way that is most appropriate for you use. When scheduling a recording it works its way down the capture source list looking for an available device which has the requested channel. When looking for a capture source for live tv, it does the opposite - working its way from the bottom of the capture source list up.

The rules become a little more complex with back to back recordings, but thats the general gist of it.
