I think the mvpmc dongle setup can do this, just needed to confirm:

I have a 4:3 Monitor on my PC, so setting 16:9 in GBPVR makes the aspect ratio all wrong there.

I have a new 16:9 TV downstairs, which is fed by the MVP.

Is the correct setup here to LEAVE GBPVR at 4:3 (so I can play shows on my PC screen OK) and set the MVP downstairs to 16:9?

Ta,

k.

From mvpmc wiki
Quote:
[B]16:9auto - As 16:9 except it sends a WSS signal to the TV to tell it what shape the picture should be.

I think this is changing in the current nightly builds to split out the WSS functionality ( any thoughts ?)
So is 16:9auto still an option?

k.

Trying to setup my config as follows:

[/B]
Code:
umount /etc/mvpmc
mount.cifs //192.168.1.10/mvpmc /etc/mvpmc -o username=guest,password=guest,rw
mvpmc -F /etc/mvpmc/defaults -m pal [B][COLOR=darkred]-a 16:9auto[/COLOR][/B] -o svideo -o passthru --flicker 2 --startup emulate --emulate 192.168.1.10 &

The only way I got MediaMVP to display at 16:9 was to install the hauppage MediaMVP software on the server, run it without GBPVR MediaMVP servers running, start MediaMVP on the TV, select Settings (now using the hauppage software) and switch the aspect ratio on the MediaMVP box from default 4:3 to 16:9. Once you have done this on the server you can uninstall the Hauppage MediaMVP software or stop the MediaMVP services switching it to manual start mode in windows services. Restart GBPVR plus GBPVR MediaMVP server. Power off and on your MediaMVP box and wait for it to connect to your GB-PVR MediaMVP server.
Ever since I did this I get 16:9 aspect ratio out of MediaMVP through the TV, I never did get the command line start up options method shown above to work for me. This continues to work even if you power off and on the MediaMVP box, I guess it must have a bit of flash memory inside to store settings.
Adrian.

That is how it is supposed to work for aspect ratio and pal/ntsc standard. There is flash memory for storing this info in all mvp's and both the Hauppauge dongle and mvpmc read do these settings and should use them as their defaults. Personally I only use the command line when I want to override the default to do specific testing.

I just tried this on my system. Reinstalled new MVP SW, changed to 16:9, then restared GBPVR. All went great on format however I kept getting a Happhauge status on the lower part of the screen with every remote action. This was really annoying. SO I unistalled the MVP sw and restarted the GBPVR sw. The Hauppauge status line was gone (good), the format went back to 4:3 for my widesceen movies. (bad).

Isn't there a way through GBPVR to change the upload to specify the MVP screensetting?

Sorry, no there isnt. The only way to change the aspect ratio setting is with the original Hauppauge MVP software.
