Wait a minute. Are you guys saying that if I set Fullscreen Exclusive mode in the config utility and launch PVRX2 normally (ex. double click on an icon) that it still uses VMR custom regardless? I knew PVRX2 currently ignores anything in the Plugins part of the config utility but didn't know that; what else does it ignore?

It doesn't ignore the plugins - you just have to put them in both the /plugins directory and /plugins/legacy/

My PVRX2 happily shares the my videos / weather plugins between old & new (obviously without the fancy animations)

It ignore the video renderer option as it's DX (direct draw?) application so it always uses VMR9 Custom in PVRX2. You have to use the command line to launch as FSE.

Actually, I have a shortcut in my startup folder and just modded it to launch with the -fse option.

Well, I'll be. It's fixed my tearing (or whatever you call it) problem. No wonder why I didn't notice any difference between FSE mode and VMR Custom. Pressing the Windows logo key brought the task bar up. Now I know I'm in exclusive mode as PVRX2 is always on top (at least the graphics stuff).

Menu seems slower though. But the picture looks fantastic!

As for the plugins stuff, will doing what you say let me get back FM Radio? I have it checked in the config utility, but it doesn't show up in PVRX2 (but obviously does in GB-PVR).

Not so sure regarding FM radio - I don't use it and I think Sub said it was not available in X2.
Try and see.

I've finally managed to get smooth playback. I am using Dscaler and PVRX2.exe -fse. For audio I use ffdshow.

Well I have Nvidia, Intervideo WinDVD 7, Dscaler5, and Nero codecs and I have tested them all in PVRX2.exe with and without FSE I have also tried GBPVR.exe without FSE and I still have skipping but almost no tearing.
