I have a MediaMVP that has the "too dark and too red" problem. I would like to be able to use ZProcess to solve this problem for all my recordings (the standard mpg's that GBPVR produces), not just .avi's.
I am very new to ZProcess, could someone please help me out with how to set this up, given that it is possible with this utility?
Thanks!!

Hi there.... Are you seeing too dark and red when you view the recordings (not downloaded content) on the computer?

If so, do you have a PVR 150? If so, you can adjust the picture quality with this utility...

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...eTweakTool

But this affects all recorded MPG content.

If you want to use ZProcess for the playback of all video, open ZProcess, click GB-PVR settings, select 'MVP Transcode All Video' = true, click Save to config.xml. DO NOT click restart service

You should restart the service via the tray icon.

Thanks for the reply!
My main viewing is on my computer hooked up to the TV in the family room, and it is working fine. I had heard about the tweaks that can be made to direct.ini, but I do not want to change the recording settings on the main system just to change the quality of MVP playback. (not worth it)
I am excited about the "MVP Transcode all Video" setting, I will try that just as soon as I get home. Big Grin

Zehd,
I tried that setting, and it worked as advertised. Smile
I will miss the commercial skipping, but I guess that is the price you pay for a decent picture.
I still have some picture quality issues, mostly with fast movement. I am thinking it is probably either the bitrate or deinterlacing, so I will have to experiment a little to figure it out.
Thanks for your help on this, and I would suggest this tip be added to your wiki page on zprocess. There are lots of people with this same MVP problem, and this is a good solution.

Well, sub in general doesn't like to endorse transcoding on the fly as it detracts from the PVR experience. He usually says something like "keep it all MPG"...

I understand. Certainly, MPGs play much better than transcoded content. The tip is on the ZProcess 1 wiki page. I have been moving some of the content over to the version2 wiki page, and will add this again.

I think that if you wanted to view MPGs with commercial skipping you could transcode with ZProcess, manually more than likely the comskip.txt will still work. You may have to re-comskip it... Maybe add a command to your postprocessing.bat that would auto transcode all your recordings and NOT use the TranscodeAllVideo setting.

However, I haven't checked to see if Zprocess2 will do this yet. I can make the adjustments easily if necessary...

Maybe transcoding right after recording would be the way to go. But if I bumped up the brightness to fix the MVP problem in the transcode wouldn't that result in it being too bright for the main computer (which is currently fine)? I could just adjust direct.ini and get essentially the same end result, and that is not really what I am looking for.
Or would the transcode create a MVP-only copy that would not be used on the main computer? I am not sure how this would work, do you have any ideas?
I am not really up to speed on the transcoding, either. If you have an idea on how to do this, an example batch file (postprocessing.bat??) would be REALLY helpful.

As I said, I would need to do some work to implements this, but..

You could transcode the recorded MVP into a sister file, maybe with a xxx.MVP.mpg filename. That way you'd be able to watch the original on the PC and the transcoded one on the MVP.

It's not a really cool solution though as first off, you'd have to delete two copies when you're done, and the resultant MVP.mpg wouldn't be connected to the database, so you wouldn't see program details and description. Plus you couldn't pause the video on the MVP, and resume on the PC, as GB-PVR would have no clue where the resume pointer was (two different files)

But it would work that way.

I must have missed somwthing, but I didn't know you also wanted to watch on the PC... Anyway, if you have any other ideas, I could play with them...

I just gets more and more convoluted. I think the on-the-fly transcoding may have to be the solution for me until something better comes along.

Just out of curiosity, would the mvpmc dongle solve any of these problems?

The mvpmc dongle doesn't have colour correction at the moment I don't think. When GB-PVR plays a non-avi video, it calls a transcoder. mvpmc displays the output of this transcode in the same way as the dongle that ships with GB-PVR.

While the mvpmc team have unlocked a great deal of potential in the MVP configuration, I think I understand that sub, martin and the gang have no control over this...

The mvpmc can also use VLC and view non-mpeg video directly (sort of). With my work, I have been unable to get colour correction happening with VLC (that's why I haven't implemented it in version 2 yet) I haven't tried it yet...
