Channel scanning

Simple request, could we have a "Don't clear existing scan results" option?

Reason being is that here in the UK, CBBC and CBeebies share the same mux as BBC3 and BBC4. Ftn only broadcasts at some times as does some of the other channels, Citv being another.

The issue here is that when I scan, I can only tune the channels that exist at the time of the scan. Then I have to wait for a time when the other channels are transmitting and scan again. This in itself isn't catastrophic but with 3 tuners gets a little tedious, especially as at the end of this, the recording service gets restarted just because i'm saving the config!

Finding a free time when the channels are broadcast, nothing is about to be recorded and I'm not busy can get tight.

The other solution which would ease this and for other config changes would be to have a deferred restart so that the restart was scheduled for when no recordings were in operation. I know i've asked for that before

It shouldnt unmap any previous mappings you've made, so in effect it should already do this. (it will replace the list of last channels found in the lower right though, but this doesnt affect existing mappings)

Agreed it doesn't replace existing mappings but the issue is that the list of found channels is replaced.

Ok, it's not generally an ongoing issue but with a cleared channel mapping for 3 tuners does become a bind having to wait several hours/opportunistic days to wait until the required channels are broadcasting.

I understand if it's not going to be fixed.

Any reason for not wanting to defer or even allow a third option to the closing dialog box? Restart now, Cancel, Restart manually later?

That would fix it and wouldn't add any real functionality change while maintaining the ability to save the config but leave it to the user to restart the recording service at their choice later.

Because I weighed the benefits it would give vs all the additional complexities and problems it would introduce, and decided it just wasnt worth the effort.
