Hello,

I experimented different scanning duration for the DVB/ATSC EPG (found under "Settings > Guide > (cog icon, for DVB/ATSC EPG, on the right-hand side))"). Default value is 60 sec.
I identified a sweet spot at 6 sec.
When set to 5 seconds, the DVB/ATSC EPG doesn't have enough time to download the data. When set to 6 seconds, it successfully downloads it.
This is only my own experience; YMMV.
I could imagine users with many channels, polling the DVB/ATSC signal, for a minute, for each channel... This could take a long time, even if at night it's less problematic.
What about reducing the default value to, maybe, 10 seconds?
Maybe you have good reason to set it to 60 seconds by default (I don't know).

Thank you!

The duration can be configured in config.xml

<EPGScanSeconds>60</EPGScanSeconds>

The shorter the duration the more likely you will only get Now/Next data which is useless for PVR. Some EPG data in some formats is send less frequently in fact the "sweet spot" for ATSC could be over one minute.

Regarding the time yes it take a long time which is why for countries that provide a week of data scheduling overnight is the best choice. Also some countries provide all the EPG channel on one frequency so not all frequencies need to be scanned.

If the duration in France is short maybe consider Schedules Direct. You can get up to 2 weeks of data so running overnight is no issue The meta data support is probably better. Here in North America it is well worth the country since many channels don't have good data.

A lot of countries take 60 seconds to transmit the full EIT data, which is why that is the default. Very few would be done in 10 seconds! Maybe France has allocated a lot more data bitrate to guide listings than some other countries.

You can reduce it in the Settings->Guid->DVB-EPG settings (clicking the cog).

In a lot of countries, you can also untick all the frequencies but one, and that'll still get you listings for every frequency.
