I just bought an ECD and want to rip the music tracks to my PC. Apparently it has 14 music tracks but also has 4 music videos, various jpgs for wallpaper and a screen saver. If I open the CD in Explorer I can see everything except there doesn't seem to be the standard CD audio files to rip. It just looks like a normal data CD.

Anyone know how these things work and how I can just rip the music tracks to mp3?

Cheers,
Brian

I believe iTunes will rip enhanced CDs.

Thanks - I later found out that WinAmp would do it. When I first tried WinAmp I went to the 'Play File...' option but it couldn't see any supported media files. When I chose the Rip and Burn option the 14 music files appeared in its list.

I've had a look at the disk with IsoBuster and there are two 'sessions' the first contains the audio tracks as a normal CD would. The second session is a data CD folder tree. It seems Windows Explorer only sees the data CD side of things.

You learn something everyday.

Cheers,

Some Enhanced CDs have a gap between the Audio and Data sessions that causes most rippers to fail when trying to rip the last track. Just FYI.

Thanks again - I'll see what WinAmp does with it (haven't had time yet). I bought it on eBay for 99p and I'm only interested in two tracks earlier on the disk. It could be that I find the last track is the best of the lot (sods law). In that case, IsoBuster will rip audio tracks as wav files. I'll see what happens.

Cheers,
Brian
