Hello all,

I want to apologize for the newbie question in advance, but I just want to ensure that I have everything straight in my head. I am running the latest version of pvrx2 on a P4, 3ghz machine with 1gb of memory. I currently am running a Hauppage 150 tuner card. I am wanting to add another hybrid or digital card to my setup. (I would prefer a hybrid that could record both analog and digital at the same time.) I have standard cable service w/HD serv.

My question is this, I would like to get a digital tuner that could receive HD channels and record them without having to get a cable box. I currently have a Pioneer 50" plasma that receives HD channels via a cable card. (This setup does not require a cable box.)

Is there a digital/hybrid card on the market that will allow me to receive HD channels via my cable service provider, not over-the-air, and without having to purchase a cable box?

Thanks in advance.

no cable-card equivalents on the market yet...but you could use the tv to do the tuning...but that would tie it up from watching..
[setup ir blaster to control tv, and record the tv's output]

i haven't even heard of anyone *trying* to make any cable card compatible cap cards...nice to see tv sets showing up finally tho...Smile
so maybe that will change soon with the analog cutoff coming..

There already is a cablecard capture card out made by ATI. However, it only comes with a manufacturer-built system and is so locked up with DRM it's not funny. (Half the time it doesn't even work.) Here's some more info.
