I just purchased and installed an HDHomeRun to go along with the FusionHD card that I already had in my system. I can watch live TV from the HDHomeRun just fine, but it appears that any recordings that are atttempted on the HDHomeRun result in a filesize of only 4k. While the show is recording, the HDHomeRun's streaming indicator light is on. Recordings from the FusionHD card (recording at the same time as the HDHomeRun) work OK.

I seem to remember reading a message in the support forum about recordings that were only 4k in size, however the forum software does not permit searches on short words and I have not been able to find the original post.

Several HDHomeRun users have found they need to set the following in config.xml:

<BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnRecord>true</BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnRecord>

Sub,

Do you know if this fixed a problem with the recording not starting at all, or did it have to do recordings that started, but for some reason failed? Last night I ran a test and selected 3 simultaneous recordings. The status show that all 3 recordings were in process, and both streaming indicators were lit on the HDHomeRun. I thought everything was OK. This morning I found out that the only successful recordings were the ones done on the FusionHD.

Either way, I will try this setting tonight to see if it makes a difference.

Some users found the HDHomeRun BDA drivers would not lock a signal and start delivering data unless GB-PVR submitted the tuning request twice. If the device does not start delivering data then you end up with 6kb or less recording (ie, an empty file or just the dvr-ms file headers etc, no real data).

I fixed this problem by adding GBPVR.exe and GBPVRRecordingService.exe to my firewall's exception list.

Yep, that could be a cause too.

Thanks bdshaffer. That indeed was the problem. Gbpvr.exe was there but the recording service was not.
