It depends where abouts in the world you are. In the USA your high def digital transport streams are MPEG2, wheras other parts of the world are standardizing on MPEG4 H.264 transport streams for high def. H.264 is the same codec used on many BluRay and HD-DVD disks, and the H.264 broadcasts are very similar to what you'd find on these next generation disks. In these parts of the world most machines would struggle to play the video without the help of a videocard with hardware H.264 acceleration (like the new ATI HD 2400/2600 cards).

Is there a program like GSpot out that will give you information about your ts files? I would like to know info about them, resolution, etc, but have no clue how.

I am actually picking up a 7600GS from a local guy on craigslist tonight. Should be interesting. I hope it does the trick, we'll see.

I think I'm in your boat. I have a 720p projector and I use an antenna to get all of my HD content (I'm too cheap to pay for FiOS TV Smile) I want to be able to watch my programs live, or at least slightly delayed so I can skip through commercials. Presently I find myself waiting for them to encode and I watch them the following day. I have no solution of getting a signal to my projector, so I'm going to use the HDTV Dongle to run components to it with the 7600GS. Here's to hoping!

With this solution though, I'll be able to ebay my HD Tuner and snag a couple of bucks so all should be good. If all goes well, I'll finally be using the gbpvr interface on my screen instead of watching the encoded versions a day later on my monitor.

I'll stop in tonight to let you know how it goes.

I'd only be using it to play recorded analog (and OTA HD when I get an HVR card) programs. I have a dedicated upconverting DVD player that I have hooked up (HDMI) to the tv for playing DVD's. I don't do any DIVX transcoding or any of that.

So far I'm getting the best results with the ATI Mux. I'm using PVRX2. I can record HD and watch the show back without any issues. Now, I was attempting some other Muxes (specifically TS) and I cannot play back a file as I'm recording it (which I don't like because I want to play it say, 20 minutes after it starts so I can skip commercials). With other muxes I have a stutter in the image every 10 seconds or so. I have found others have the same issue. It's watchable, but still somewhat annoying.
