hi, shortly I'm going to blow away my db, and start affresh as I've got a change in EPG source. Some of the channel names are different from what i use currently.

Obviously I've got recorded material and scheduled Season recordings that I'd like to keep as well.

After I've made my change I know I can import the recordings-dump.xml but would like some things clarified.

For recorded material and season recordings, if a channel name has changed does the channel name in the xml file have to change, and if so to what? the internal channel name or the display name of the channel?

Anything else I need to be aware of?

You can use the 'import recordings' button to bring the recordings back in.

Yep, this is the one important fish hook to be aware of. The channel name in the recordings-dump.xml must match the channel name in the new listings otherwise it'll create a channel (not associated with any capture source), and as a result it season recordings wont get new listings for that channel, which means the season recordings wont find new episodes. Its a pain in the but, but there wasnt really anything I could do to avoid this.

I think Zehd has a program that backs up season recordings etc.
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

The built in export/import recordings also does this, but its complicated.

I suspect the built in stuff probably does a better job than Zehd's. That said, I dont know how much work he has done on it, so I could under-rating his work on this. I suspect he wouldnt automatically handle the channel name issue discussed above either though.
