Everyone was going fine until today. For some reason my LiveTV audio plays for a few seconds, then stutter a little bit and stops completely. Video is fine. Change channels and the same thing happens. Rebooted my XP as well in case its an OS problem.

It happens for both my digital (DVB-S) and analogue (PVR150) channels. I'm using PureVideo but tried changing video and audio decoders which it didn't help.

Playback of recordings is fine though. This only happens for LiveTV.

I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

I think someone will ask for the logs. In gbpvr-config set logging to debug and enable logflushing. Then let things happen again. then zip up the logs and post them.

By adding a 50ms delay I got the audio going for a few minutes before it died again. Enclosed is a log of this.

The usual reason for things just changing out of the blue is because the user has their deoders set to 'system default' then have installed/remove some other software that has caused their system default decoders to be changed.

I just checked your logs saw you were use 'system default', so this is most likely the cause.

Try explicitly selecting your decoders.

XP died (bad sectors) so decided to rebuild the entire OS and upgrade to 1.0.16.

PVRX2 LiveTV shows the same problem with new install. Even with the default playback delay of 500ms. GBPVR.EXE seems to work fine. Turned down the default playback to zero and still working.

For the time being I'm sticking with gbpvr.exe even with 1.0.16.

Sub. Some feedback on pvrx2:-

1. Nice looking but I miss the "Settings" option under System that I use to customise some of the options in gbpvr.exe.

2. How to I get EPG to go back to "current time". In gbpvr.exe it does that automatically when I press the "Guide" button on my Happauage remote. In pvrx2 it goes back to where I last left it.

3. Alt-Enter switches the screen to thumbnail size that is unwatchable. I have to resize to view. gbpvr.exe doesn't do that.

4. On the fresh install of 1.0.16 tried to setup NZ Freeview DVB-S capture source from scratch. Scanning couldn't find any channels. I think the Optus D1 (NZ FTA) settings are wrong. Anyway I got everything back by putting back my backed up db3 database from ver 99.12.

The playback delay is only used if you've switch to using timeshift mode. It doesnt do anything if you're in the default live preview mode.

Are you still using 'system default' decoders?

This will return in a future release. Very few people use this screen so it was a low priority for me when I was implementing the new UI.

These two are known bugs, both fixed for the next release. Some of the patches posted here may have corrected the second one, even though this wasnt the stated reason for the patch.

I just did a install of 1.0.16 on my laptop to check, and it's definitely got the correct satellite settings. The channels not being found would have been caused by some other problem. If you do a rescan, then zip and attach the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log, then I'll take a look what happened for you.

If you'd tried installing the app, but forgot to do the vcredist_x86 step until after the installed, then this would explain this behaviour. Running ReRegisterFilters.bat would have fixed it.

BTW, you shouldnt have copied a database file from v0.99.12 on to a 1.0.16 release though. There was some additional columns added to the database during the upgrade that will now be missing from your database. This will cause problems.

Hi Sub. Help. How do I fix the DB now?

I still have the original DB3 file from the 1.0.16 installation. Can I just export swap the db3 file and then reimport?

Yes I didn't install your vcredist_x86 initially because the VC++2005 Redist files were already installed when I loaded the Hauppage drivers and apps onto the system. When the 1.0.16 installation failed I then ran your vcredist_x86. And yes I also had to manually reregister the filters again.

Yes I've switched to Nvidia as my video and audio decoders. Enclosed are my logs. The Purevideo tray icon shows up when view LiveTV on pvrx2 but no sound. GBPVR.exe works fine. Here are both logs for you to have a look.

Tried with the new database but couldn't get DVB-S source going. Without those channels importing the recordings didn't work.

Anyway enclosed are the rescan logs for Optus D1 (NZ FTA).

The only built-in way for these database upgrades to occur is during an upgrade from a previous release.

You could probably also manually run the following SQL statements in something like SQLiteSpy. Some of these may already have been applied, so may result in an error, but thats fine - just continue with the next statement.

Code:
alter table CAPTURE_SOURCE add column allocation_order int
update CAPTURE_SOURCE set allocation_order=oid
create table PREVIOUS_EPISODE (recording_group int, unique_identifier VARCHAR(50), create_date DATETIME)
create table YOUTUBE_VIDEO (filename VARCHAR(255), youtube_identifier VARCHAR(50), title VARCHAR(255), description VARCHAR(255), author VARCHAR(50), thumbnail_url VARCHAR(255),  create_date DATETIME, keep char(1))

It look the device failed to lock onto any signals. Are you sure you entered you LNB settings correctly?

Thanks Sub. All table statements came back with error because they were already there. The Update statement worked ok although I can't see the purpose of creating a new column and setting all values to match the oid column.

The LNB settings did not look right for the fresh 1.0.16 install when set to "Optus D1 (NZ FTA)". When I put back my 99.12 db3 database the LNB settings are correct now.
