I recently installed the latest version of GBPVR having updated my OS to Windows XP. What I can do is:
  1. record all programmes and view them via my MVP
  2. watch Live TV on the MVP
  3. view the programme guide and schedule recordings on both the PC and the MVP
I have to say the latest version appears more stable and more repsonsive via the MVP than previous versions. However what I cannot do is:
  1. Watch live TV on the PC although I can listen to the sound on all channels!
  2. Watch any of my recordings on the PC (just reverts back to the name of the recording.)
The screen shows signal and quality both at 100% (full green bar) although it says: 'No Signal detected'. Sound is perfect and the programme information is present. The pvrx2.exe log file shows 'no signal lock' repeatedly.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

UPDATE: I've installed Cyberlink Power DVD and am now able to view recordings in GBPVR! Still no picture for Live TV though!

Can you reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs?

A lot of people that have just installed v1.0.16 have reported getting no video on their MVP until they allowed PVRX2.exe network access in their firewall software. I'm fairly sure this will be your problem based on the description above.

Thanks for the reply Sub. I sorted the Firewall problem out but this isn't the problem I was describing. I cannot get Live TV on the PC (no picture, only sound) but can get it now on the MVP. I've attached the logs.

Thanks Sub. I downloaded and installed the Elecard MPEG2 Decoder and Streaming pack and everything now works great (well apart from network drives on the MVP!)

It occurs to me that, whilst GPVR is a fantastic piece of software, it does require the presence of other software (over and above the OS) in order to work. Would it be useful to have a list, in one place, of the various programmes etc that need to be present for a successful install? So far I have installed the following in addition to GBPVR:

MS Visual C++ Redistributable (vcredist_x86.exe)
Cyberlink Mux (MpgMux.ax)
MPEG2 Decoder (EMpgDec20.zip)
MS .NET Framework 2.0 (dotnetfx.exe)

There may be something else I've forgotten or others have found they needed for successful installation.

Thanks JohnD! I had the same problem. I searched for the decoder you mentioned and BOOM it works now!

Mucho thanks!

And, of course, thanks to Sub for being the master of everything PVR!
