When I am playing videos through the MVP, the overlay darkens the whole screen instead of just the information in the lower third. Is this an MVP software issue?

I have been slowly ramping up my install of GB-PVR for a while as I acquire new dedicated hardware. I have two tuners and a big disk now, and will probably be buying another MVP soon because everything seems to work so well toghther.

It makes me feel better and better that I could throw together such a great multi-tuner, whole-house, subscription-free, archivable solution from commodity hardware, never worrying about the new restrictions continually occurring with Tivo. Thanks again, Sub.

I think (!Wink this issue is "by design" ... it happens on both of my MediaMVP's too...

Yes, its by design. When I put things on the screen I have no way to do a fully transparent colour, instead I use black. When you mix the black with the video it makes the video appear to dim slightly.

No problem. I guess there is no provision for complete transparency in the VNC-like protocol that it uses. Do you have to draw the whole interface portion of the screen? I know you can set the size of the interface for the MVP in the config file. Could you downsize it for display of the overlay information?

Just curious. Thanks again for this great software.
