Hi

I'm just looking round to install a new PVR following the demise of Meedio.

I have a question - I read that the EPG (freeview in the UK) is obtained from the over the air transmission. That is, it is not downloaded like xmltv. Is that correct? So I can free myself from the xmltv resetting channels problems I get with meedio and it will just grab the data from the air just like my freeview set top box?

cheers

So long as you've got a DVB-T card, that's how it works...

If you do use the DVB EPG, its worth keeping an eye on this page so you know when things are due to shuffle around, as GBPVR doesnt accommodate the changes automatically. So if a new channel becomes available you'd have to rescan before seeing it.

Other than that its a good solution. You'll also find you probably get an awful lot more data than your STB shows you. most of the time you should expect a weeks worth of epg to be available.

I still prefer to use the xmltvgui from http://www.birtles.org.uk/ as the radio times reviews are more detailed than the over the air ones. If you are happy with the STB descriptions then yes, stick to OTA EPG download.

Thanks for the info. The Freeview link is good - could have done with that last month when I returned from holiday - ABC1 had gone and I rescanned and checked the setup for a week before I found out - doh!

cheers
