My old Microsoft Laser 6000 mouse's cord evidently kept getting caught on something or smashed repeatedly over the years and it had a bunch of the wires showing... didn't find this out till it quit last week forcing me to take a closer look at it then ultimately bringing out an old ball type mouse to use till I found a new one.
I was going to get the same mouse again since it served me pretty well, but the tracking always seemed a little off, like it was too sensitive. Discovered that there are now mice with on-the-fly tracking change features - cool.
I tried out the Logitech G5. It was comfortable on the left side of my hand but had this wierd edge on the right side that made my ring finger on that hand go numb. The on the fly tracking adjustment was really nice and had a solid feel. But there was also a wierd texture which I guess was supposed to add grip but just felt odd and really bugged me. So I took that back and picked up the new MS Sidewinder today.
It's pretty pricey for a mouse, but you can add/remove wieght to get just the right feel (like the G5 had too), the size is perfect for me, and it has the tracking adjustment changes which is sweet for turning down while doing detail work in Paintshop or cranking it up for playing games. Has a little LCD screen on it that shows the current DPI and walks you thru programming macro functions. Bling!
