mc2xml - microsoft legacy service expiring

So it seems like the microsoft legacy service is no longer being updated.

I signed up for a trial of schedules direct. I guess my other option is to try the paid version of mc2xml with the newer microsoft service.

I understand Microsoft switched from zap2it to rovi. Anyone have any input of quality of rovi guide data?

I'm assuming that zap2it/schedules direct is going to be much better quality than rovi and that schedules direct is probably the better way to go?

I've never understood paying for a potentially illegal service. This is the Rovi data http://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/tv-listings I am not sure it has episode data or even the zap2it id used as a unique id in NextPVR.
