Hi

My main media PC is running GBPVR 1.1.5, and has a Hauppauge NovaT500 & a PVR150, the latter being connected to a sky box. I'm using MCE blasters and HIP to have GBPVR change the channel on the sky box and this works very well.

Unfortunately, however I can't change sky channels from either my other PC, also running 1.1.5 but in client mode, or from my MVP. If I choose one of the channels available via the digital tuners on the NovaT, it tunes correctly, but for sky channels they both simply display the channel that the sky box happened to be tuned to already, and there doesn't seem to be any attempt to blast the new channel number through HIP.

Any ideas how to fix this?

I've attached the logs from the host PC. They include me successfully tuning a few sky channels on the host pc, and then trying to do the same on both the second PC and the MVP.

Any help will be much appreciated, I'm really close to having my whole system working perfectly.

From what I can tell GB-PVR seems to be living up to the it's part of the bargain by running the .exe channel changer you've configured. I can only guess HipWSend.exe is encountering some problem doing it's processing.

Ok, thanks. GBPVR is trying to run the hipsend commands, but they work without fail when initiated from the host pc, while nothing happens when they're initiated remotely.

Could this be some kind of permissions issue - failing to run the hipsend command because the remote machine isn't allowed to execute this type of command?

It's probably some todo with the recording service running as a different user account and hipsend not working correctly when this happens. The same is probably tru when you schedule a recording for that capture source.

I scheduled a recording on a sky channel, and as you predict, the channel change also failed there.

I already have the recording service running under my own log on credentials rather than as system, had to do this to let my MVP access content on network folders.

Just to clarify, when I change channels successfully on PVRx2 on the host machine, is it PVRx2 or the recording service which executes the hipsend command?

When you're using live preview mode to watch tv on the PC, then hipsend is called by PVRX2.exe from the user's current desktop session. From the recording service its running in a different desktop session.

I'm not sure what hipsend does, but in the past we've seen problems with people trying to run .exe channel changers that use WM_COPYDATA (aka the windows clipboard) to transfer data between the utility and the main program. This clipboard transfer does work across sessions since each session has it's own clipboard. You might have to ask the question on the HIP forums.

Is this the case even when I have the recording service running under my log on credentials, which is what I'm logged into the pc as at the time?

I'm not really sure I understand what you mean by 'desktop session'. Is this influenced by factors other than the log on in use?

Even running as your same user account, a service would be running in a separate desktop session. Basically its running in its own non-shared environment. ie, windows created in that session wont appear on your desktop, and the clipboard used for this WM_COPYDATA method of sharing data will not be visible between the two sessions.

After further searching of the forum I've used this workaround:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...p+interact

Which seems to have done the job.

Thanks for the help Sub, you pointed me in the right direction.
