All, I'm thinking of replacing a trusty MVP with a Mac Mini running XP with GBPVR in client mode.

I think I can work out most of how it'll work, but I'm stuck on the remote control. Will the good old Haup remote work with the Mini (it has a built in IR reciever of some kind) or will this be a journey into the long and complex world of usb this that and the others!

Help - before I spend a whole load of £££'s. (PS Sub it's all your fault with your fancy V1 menus...)

Worst case scenario is you attach a usb receiver for a Hauppauge or MS remote. Drivers should load fine for it.

You might want to check, the MAC Mini's integrated video, the Intel GMA 950 might not to be up to rendering via VMR9 or EVR either.

mmm - thanks martin. I had read it was capable of 1080p, but haven't seen anything refering to running vmr at that kind of resolution. Perhaps I'll hang on and see how you all do with the pch...

Did you have any luck getting the Haupauge remote to work with the Mac Mini IR? I've got mine set up with XP via Boot Camp and GBPVR seems to be working fine in client mode with my dvr-ms HD recordings.

All I need now is to get a remote working with it. I've got Hauppauge remotes all over the place, so using one of those would be first choice.

Otherwise, there was a US receiver mentioned? Is this something that can be bought separate? Link?

Thanks for any help,

The Hauppauge remote uses RC-5. MCE remotes use RC-6. I'm not sure what the Mac Mini uses.
