Options to filter out repeat shows in series

sub I get where your coming from. I will try to create an auto number or something and make certain shows all have unique IDs.

What if I make the unique_identifier = the programme start time? That seems pretty specific.

Thats pretty much what the app does already. If no unique identifier is specified, then the shows is assumed to uniquely identified by the hash of the show title + start time. Doing this doesnt solve this persons problem though, since you have no way to tell that two shows with the same name but a different start time are the same episode.

Just my two NZD cents, but the UK has launched a system called Freeview Playback which is supposed to support what the original poster wants (including seeking repeat showings of programmes in case of tuner unavailability). Also supports accurate start / stop times for shows like Videoplus / PDC.

If someone could write or point me in the direction of a quick tutorial at searching the DVB TS for commands, I'd be happy to spend a bit of time hunting about for the data / commands.

NumberFive - that sounds interesting - if you find any info I'd be interested to learn about it.
Sub - I see your point - it's difficult to get a balance of userability and flexibility. I think your approach of simple and reliable is best.
