I'm using movie wiz to control all films on my htpc. Sometimes I get the wrong image for movies.
When looking for movie details I allways get to choose from several options, but this is not the case with images. Is there any way I can force it to display image that I pick?
I tried to do that with the "create thumbnails" feature, but I couldn't understand how to work with it. Appreciate the help.

In the MovieWiz manager, you can:
  • Control the order of sites used to lookup the thumbnails
  • Manually query each site to select the most appropriate image
  • Create your own thumbnail by taking 'snapshots' of the movies itself at specified intervals in the file.
To manually select the images,
  • open up moviewiz manager
  • select the manage content tab
  • in the menu toolbar, dropdown combo box, select the source (ie Yahoo, IMDB or whatever)
  • Click lookup image
  • If the image is acceptable, click the Save toolbar button, otherwize, select a different source (combo box) and click lookup again...
To manually create a thumbnail:
  • on the manage content tab, position to target entry
  • click the create thumbnail button
  • select the number of images to generate (15 should be good)
  • select initial delay before snapping first image (try 60 seconds)
  • select delay interval between snaps (try somewhere between 60-360 seconds)
  • Press generate
  • Step thru the generated images until you find one that is acceptable, then press select to save it.
  • If not are acceptable, tweak the above settings in order to 'zone-in' on other sequences within the movie until you find an acceptable image.
  • Remember to click 'Save' on the toolbar (main screen-manage content tab) to save the generated image.

Thanks for the detailed answer.
I tried to look up with different sources, sometimes the sources I'm trying don't find images, and with the source that I do get an image, I get the wrong one.
I can't manually create a thumbnail, could it be because I'm trying to generate it from a -.mkv file?
Can I use a downloaded jpeg/gif file to be my thumbnail?

Probably so, I use FFMPeg to grab the snap-shots. Maybe FFMpeg does not handle mkv, or my coding has disabled the ability to use .mkv files. I'll take a look.

Yes. I believe if you select Manual in the source list, it will popup a dialog that you can use to locate the jpg on your system.

Thanks - the local lookup is what I was looking for.
