I have recently installed the Video Archive plugin and I am having a problem that I am hoping someone can help with. I am hoping it is just a check box somewhere or something simple.
When I run the DVD2MPEG plugin, it runs fine and appears to finish ripping the DVD. So far I have ripped 3 movies with it. 2 were original commercial movies. The third was a backup copy made by DVD Shrink.
The first commercial movie (xXx State of the union) went without any problems.
The second commrcial movie (Smokey and the Bandit) only got 50 minutes (about half)
The third was a backup copy (Far and Away). It got about 98 minutes (about half)
Any ideas on how to fix this.

My system is a 2.6G Intel with 768 mb ram. PVR 150 card. Aside from a few minor issues everythign else seems to run fine.
Thanks for the help.

Download CDCheck & run it on the DVD's.
At least the burned DVD.
I've noticed that sometimes a DVD will contain CRC errors but still play on my standalone DVD player but choke when placed in a DVD drive for ripping with GBPVR.

I've had burned DVD's & commercial DVD's with smudges & scratches that rip fine on one DVD drive but not on another so it could also be the DVD drive.

The only time the ripping plug-in failed was because of the DVD itself.

I tried running cd check and it said it was going to take 60 hours. I am trying some different movies now.

As best I can figure it out, some moves have sequence end codes embedded in them. When mplex hits one of these it figures the move is done and it stops the reassembly process. When I find one of these, I manually run a tool called restream (http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downlo...m_246.html) and tell it to remove the sequence end codes from the ripped m2V file. I then repeat the mplex step and things thus far have aways worked out fine.

I think it is not even getting that far. I think it is failing during the dvd decrypter stage. I have tried 5 more movies and they all fail. 3 of them took less than 1 minute to rip and thay only had about 2 minutes of video. The other 2 only had about half of the video. Another 1 I tried, Days of thunder, would not even start. I kept getting an error in DVD Decrypter saying the cdrom device could not be found. I will try the software you mentioned when I get home tonight and see how it goes. I am also going to try some other ripping software and see if I have the same effect.

Thanks

There is something wrong there.
CD check takes maybe 30 mins. max for a DVD with me.

It sounds like your DVD drive might be having a problem or it has something to do with DVD decryptor.

Are you able to use DVD shrink to import a whole DVD movie?
This would tell you if it's the drive or a software problem.

If you're only getting a few seconds or minutes, I've found that with several movies, the first VTS is not the movie. Running through DVD2MPeg, it only tries the first VTS, which might be the 30 second warning message. (Whoops)

I manually run the 3 step process for these DVDs. I'll post the batch files I use.

You can go into the parameters section for DVD2MPeg and set /VTS 2 or /VTS 6 or whatever, but I figure you might as well run it through Decrypter itself.

BTW, with ReSequence, is there a command line command that would do that?

Is this something I can automate to run on ever file, just in case? or will it mess up m2v files that don't need this?

I think that if you remove the /VTS and /PCG from the command line and config DVDDecrpter (on the Settings/IFO Mode tab) to auto select the main move PCG that it will then automatically select and decrypt the largest file, which is usually the main movie.
