Hi all,
I'm trying out gbpvr after giving up on linux media center edition because of too many frustrations with linux. I really like the program so far, but I'm having a bit of a problem with the dvd ripper plugin for pvrx2. It seems that no matter whether you select file or iso when ripping, it always rips to a file. I took a quick peek at the source code posted in the wiki, and it looks like the /FILE option is hard-coded in there and it doesn't even look at what the user selects. The 0.9.x version of the plugin seems to work as expected.

I realize the plugin isn't supported, but I was kind of hoping whoever wrote it is still around here. It looks like it would be an easy fix, but I don't have a compiler to work on it.

If that's not an option, is there a newer plugin that will do the same thing? I looked at the video archive plugin, but it looks like all that will do is convert it to an mpeg file. I'd rather just rip the dvd as an image.

I supplied the DVD Ripper plugin as a sample plugin for others that wanted to implement plugins. It was never really thoroughly tested, so I probably never got around to trying the iso option.

Unfortunately I'm a little too busy to do anything about it right now (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=32719), but when things settle down I'm happy to fix it for you.

Alternatively some one else might have the time to do it.

I just set up an custom task. It runs DVD Decrypter and automatically rips DVD to ISO. With the right switches it works fine and names the ISO as the movie name.

Can you give some details on your custom task? I really want to be able to rip to ISO within GBPVR. Any details you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks

Out of interest, how much space would an ISO of an average film take up?

GBPVR calls a batch file with the below in, g:\dvd being where I save the ISO's. My PVR hibernates when not in use, it also hibernates when this is going, so I use powercfg.exe (installed with XP) to turn off and on hibernation. "hibernateon" and "hibernateoff" are saved power schemes in XP (obviously not required depending on your setup)

powercfg.exe /setactive hibernateoff

"C:\Program Files\DVD Decrypter\DVDDecrypter" /MODE ISOREAD /START /CLOSE /OVERWRITE YES /DEST "g:\dvd\[DISC_LABEL].iso"

powercfg.exe /setactive hibernateon
