The disk problem was a red herring. I was set to NTSC for some reason.

I tried retiming a movie tonight - and retime fails to create a new file. It demuxes into two files ok, but then doesn't create the new file - and then deletes the two files at the end!!!

Any ideas why it does that? It worked fine with the very small file I tested it on earlier.

Also, I'm using a NOVA-T card, which I can't find any updated drivers for - which might properly fix the timestamp issue.

Not sure since I don't use retime. The wiki shows the following syntax.
move “%~dpn1.mpg” “%~dpn1_faulty.mpg”
retime “%~dpn1_faulty.mpg” “%~dpn1.mpg”

I think erik the author of comskip wrote retime - but I'm not positive of that. I would try asking him about what is going on there.

I did try using mencoder on the file but for some reason that created a file that reported its length as really long and caused problems with the plugin.

Just my 2 cts: maybe the timestamp error is to big (file too much damaged) so retime can't deal with it.
You could try videoredo (shareware) or MpegStreamclip (freeware) to fix the timing problems.

Yep - I've just tried another much smaller file (30mins) - and it worked fine with Retime.

How do I fix it with Mpegstreamclip? ie which part of the application do I need to use to fix the recording?

Thanks

What I want to do now is get GBPVR to automatically fix the recordings using retime, but can't find the thread for postprocessing!

Did you look here: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utility/ReTime

wrt MpegStreamclip: I guess what you need is: Edit-Fix timecode breaks

Good luck

I did the edit - fix timecode breaks - but I didn't find any - that was why I wondered if I was doing the right thing.

Thanks for the link to Postprocessing - I couldn't find it anywhere!

Btw, the one file that you sent me had two time stamps with the same value. That causes ffmpeg to error. You can check what error you are getting by letting it build an iso and then look at the ffmpeg.log file in the temp/burndvd dir.

got a new problem now - ran a couple of files through Mencoder - then tried to burn them, but when I add them to the list of files to burn, it says they are 0kb - and wont burn them. Yet it allows me to edit/set menu picture etc.

These are also files that were originally DVRMS, and were transcoded to MPEG using the latest GBPVR.

Not sure what would cause that. Do you have an small file that I can look at?
