What would cause the live tv directory to hold a show that is 3GB and another show that is 9GB in size? I have my live tv on the windows drive and a separate drive for recordings. I did not think that the live tv buffer would hold more than two hours. I tried to watch live tv tonight and it said I was low on disk space and this is what i found. It also appears that comskip ran on the live tv directory, there are log, logo, and txt files along side the mpg files for each.

I have attached my logs.

Thanks.

The live tv buffer is as long as a show, so while you watch short shows, then you only have a small buffer file. If you happen to watch a 6 hour sports event you can end up with a large file.

You can switch to live preview mode to get no buffer file if you prefer.

Sub,

So how come the files remained in the live tv directory? Could this have happened beacuse the show was started in live then recorded? If this was the case, wouldn't the file be moved to recordings?

Yes.

No it doesnt. This is the one situation where you could end up with a recording outside of the recording directory. It doesnt bother moving the file because often people put their recording directory on another drive, and it adds significant load on the systm to move these large files.

How can I prevent this from happening in the future?

Its behaving the way it is supposed to. If you dont want it to leave the live tv recording in the live tv buffer directory, then next time stop live tv and schedule the recording from the TV Guide or Recording screen.

or perhaps write a simple bat file to delete the contents of this folder and schedule a windows task to run the bat file at a suitable time.

I ran into a similiar problem.
I just changed the live TV buffer to a bigger hard drive.

No more problem.
