I'm thinking about picking up a Media Center Keyboard for general web surfing and stuff on my PVR in the living room.

I found an OEM model for a really good price (doesn't have the receiver) but since I already have an MCE receiver for the remote, I figure I'm okay.

Since I use HIP with the remote (and had to patch to the alternate IR Driver), can I still use this keyboard without having to use HIP for the keyboard and mouse part?

I seem to remember that GBPVR worked without using HIP, but it would send double down and up arrow commands which made menu navigation difficult - so I used the alternate driver and HIP.

Oh, and I'm using XP Pro, not MCE.

Basically, is anyone using this keyboard and can you let me know if there are any pitfalls with it? Just trying to get some honest opinions before I spend the money Smile.

I do not know if this helps at all but you can now use the default ehome driver with hip. I came acroos this post ( http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/mce-re...ete-29024/ ) when working on another problem. I followed the procedure and am using the default ehome driver with my mce remote without a problem. I have not tried with a mce keyboard but the post says this
Quote:This same process can be applied to disable automatic keyboard handling. Just look at the other registry sections under the "Remotes" sections.

Now if you ever want to re-enable the automatic handling of the MCE Remote and MCE Keyboard you just need to put those registry keys back.

You may be lucky and there may be separte entrys for remotes and keyboards.

hey thanks for the info. I'm trying the eBay route right now, but it's looking like these idiots are going to bid it over what I can buy it for outright online. That's one of the things that drives me nuts about eBay!

I'm figuring worse case scenario I can get it working with HIP.
