I use a PVR 500 MCE and living in Sweden, if that might help some.
This tuner is analog and I'm on cable using this one.
I wonder where xmltv gets it's frequencies/channels for all the TV channels?

One channel I try to add with xmltv just won't work, I only get the typical white noise. But if I add the channel manually it works.
The channel of the TV program is 33.

What can I do personally to fix this, if I can...

When you tell GB-PVR to changed to the MTV channel, it'll look up the channel number next to MTV in the capture source channel list. If it was 33, then it'll ask Windows to tune the device to channel 33. Behind the scenes Windows uses the configured country and tuning type (Antenna/Cable) to convert this into a frequency.

Only some xmltv files contain these channel numbers. If they dont, then you get some randomly allocated number, and you'll need to manually update the capture source channel numbers to make sure they have the correct numbers.

If your broadcaster is using nonstandard frequencies, you can specify a frequency instead of a channel number. ie, instead of 33 you could enter 93000000. GB-PVR treats big numbers as frequencies.

OK, but I use xmltv and it's this App that adds all the channels, so if I change the channel 33 to my "own" frequency, won't that be overwritten next time I update the EPG?

and btw, you said that it's windows that converts the channel number into a frequency according to "my" country? where does windows store this?

and... I have my regional settings as US and then I've made some changes to the date, time and currency(this cos I hate the new multilingual drivers that install it self in Swedish even though my OS is English)

UPDATE: I just checked the channel that xmltv(windows) sets and that is 97, but it should be 33

No, if you update these, they'll stay that way on subsequent EPG updates.

Its hardcoded in a window DLL. There is no text file or registry settings that contain this lookup take. You can however override the default mappings using registry settings described here: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library...S.85).aspx. I wouldnt use those registry settings though - you can just enter the frequency into the capture source channel list.

These have no effect on tuning.

The country and tuning were selected by you when you setup your capture source in GB-PVR.

Many xmltv files contain no channel numbers, which causes the application to allocate it some random number (which would acount for this). If the xmltv file doesnt tell the application the channel number is 33, then it has no way to know this. Thats ok though, you can manually update the capture source channel list to give the correct numbers (or frequencies if you prefer).

OK

I tried to change the channel from 97 to 33 and it's stuck Smile
...that is, it staid there even after an EPG update just as you said.

thx man Smile
