"stream now failed!" error

Hi there

I'm currently using GB-PVR with DboxRecorder plugin & Ggrab to stream from my Dreambox 500c running Gemini 4.10 image. I can view live tv fine via GBPVR but cannot get the streaming to work at all via EWA (1.75.76) it simply says
"Stream Now failed!" when I click the Stream Now button.. vlc does not popup, options on the config page of EWA are using default settings.

I've tested this on both the GBPVR host pc and a standalone laptop. I've tried various versions of VLC. I'm also unsure about the Client/Server option within the config app..what should this be set to, ive tried the streaming option but it makes no difference.

In a nutshell I simply want to stream my Dreambox to the web using the GB-PVR EWA stream option.

This is driving me totally nuts. Please help if you can?

The client/server config has no impact on streaming.

In EWA Config make sure that the VLC directory is set as below....or wherever you installed it.....noting that there is a \ at the end of the location.

C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\Vlc\

thanks very much for the prompt response, i can confirm the location is correct

im running IE 7 and vista

I also get a recording failed error if I click the 'record this episode' button.

Do i need to have the Live TV playing on the host machine before I attempt to stream it via IE?

I am thinking it has to do with what you are trying to do.... "GB-PVR with DboxRecorder plugin & Ggrab " This sounds as though it is a software based capture-card emulation thing.....I think that may be the root cause.

What is "GB-PVR with DboxRecorder plugin & Ggrab "?

basically I am using dboxrecoder plugin which enables my dreambox as a capture device http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/DboxRecorder

for this to work I followed the guide to install the Ggrab grab engine.

Ok...from what I can devine from the plugin info and info on the box itself there should be a file created when you access a channel for live viewing or set up something to record.

I am guessing that the file type that is being created may not be able to be interpreted by VLC or the commandline that is being executed to stream the file that is being (live viewing) or was (recorded show viewing) created by the plugin.

Any ideas of what type of file this plugin is creating?

Try to stream something and post the logs....you can get the logs from the statistics tab in EWA.
