Hi,

I'm not sure if this should go in the wish list, but I can't find a solution.

Running:
GBPVR v 1.1.5
Music Library 2 V6.7
Hauppage MVP
Windows XP SP2 (All updates)

All works GREAT!!!!!

However, what I want to do:

Somehow be able to RDP into my GBPVR PC with my laptop, pick mp3's then send them to the MVP for playback.

What I tried:

RDP into Windows XP PRO via my Laptop.
PVRX2.exe (VMR9 is not supported, that makes sence, it's an RDP session)
- I've chaged that to overlay, but that is only for GBPVR.exe
Run GBPVR.exe, displays on my laptop, Music Library II not on menus. Even if it was, the mp3's would play at my GBPVR PC, and not at my MVP.

Does such a plug in exist to allow you do to this?

I've probably hit a wall here, but if anyone has some type of solution to play mp3's at your GBPVR PC, but have the music sent to the MVP for playback, (Even if it's not GBPVR eeeeK) I'd be willing to try, just for the convenience.

Thanks

I'm not sure, but I think you might be able to do this with mvp-mc and slimmserver. If you're not familiar with MVPMC, it's a replacement dongle for the MVP that adds much more functionality, (slimmserver & upnp support, other stuff) while still supporting an emulation mode for running gbpvr.

The slimmserver software allows you to control the clients remotely, so with that mode running on the MVPs, you ought to be designate a playlist and start it on the client(s).

I should have added, go check out the MVP and MVPMC forums too. That's the best place for this question, and there's lost of other info over there too.

Thanks.

Why not use the standard musiclibrary from GBPVR and select music by hitting play on your MVP remote.

I have a simple config. Just a W2k3 server with a \MUSIC\<artist> folder structure. I have the the settings in GBPVR point to the \MUSIC folder.

Whenever I want to listen to music I select the folder I want to listen to with my MVP and press PLAY on the remote. Musiclibrary starts playing the tracks randomly.

Not sure if that is all you want but it works for me. Oh and I have the MVP connected to a amplifier so I have better sound then a TV...

I'm guessing jakekatz either wants to control his MVP without having a TV hooked up to it (just speakers), or he has multiple MVPs that he'd like to all have playing the same music simultaneously.

While I've never tried it personally, using slimmserver and the MVPMC dongle, you should be able to start the same playlist on all your MVPs at the same time, useful for a party or something where you want to same music playing throughout the house.

Exactly, just as my original Post alluded to.

Want to control MVP (no TV involved) just for my music, as my stereo is wired into my house, so speakers are upstairs.

Hey WTG, thanks. I installed mvpmc (Latest version listed on their site) Install SqueezeCenter (aka slimserver) Configed via handheld remote to point slimserver address to my pc. SqueezeCenter searched for my MP3's. I clicked on one, bang, playing at the MVP box connected to my stereo. !!! Sweet Success.

Now I just point my laptop to my PC blahblah.org:9000 and I'm good!

Sweet, thanks again wtg for the pointer, much appreciated.

Glad that worked out for you. MVPMC is an awesome bit of work that shows you just how capable those little mvp boxes are.

I missed this thread but I agree mvpmc really is awesome and I just been responsible for a small piece of it and we are still not even using it to the maximum of its capabilities.

Now that I am programming for the PCH I can only imagine how good things could be if we (the user community) if were are ever really able to use the hardware like we could on the MediaMVP (which came from users too incidentally)

Sadly the vendors like Hauppauge and Syabas don't fully appreciate this.
