Hi,

I've got one of the media MVP's made by Hauppauge, but branded by Helius (model 86001). It had been working fine, but not when I go to turn it on it gets stuck on the orange Helius boot screen. It won't even get as far as looking for a server to connect to. Since it's last worked correctly I have installed a new video card on my PVR server as well as installed gbpvr ver 1.2.9.

I've tried unplugging to power cycle, but that didn't help. I couldn't find any kind of reset button. The remote won't even power the unit off. It comes on when plugged in, and the red light on the front stays on as well as the boot splash screen until you unplug it.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks.

There's not much to go on but the first thing I would do is check the networking and ensure that the mvp is getting an IP address. If it is could you upload your gbpvr logs?

It's normal for the remote not to respond when the dongle is not loaded.

Did you make any headway on this?

I've got the same issue. Mine was last working with GBPVR v1.2.13 a couple weeks ago. It was likely playing live TV when the HD in my PVR PC died. I finally got the PC back up and running, and I loaded the latest GBPVR, v1.3.9.

I have seen the same issue which was due to MVP not being allocated an IP address fast enough... Note different models of MVP have different time out settings.

In my case the delay was caused by Spanning Tree Protocol and fixed by enabling 'Fast Link'

Yeah, that makes sense. I had a lot of trouble getting my computers (yes plural) set back up after having two of them fail in the same week (what the heck?). Many late nights and little sleep with all the holiday hub-bub. I forgot that I had decided it was a good time to change my network IP, which I had been meaning to do for quite some time. My other two MVPs had no issue, just the Helius version. I left it (the Helius model) unplugged over night and after plugging it in the next morning it worked fine.

Thanks for the replies.
