Just switching over from older computer to a new one.. Old box didn't have enough guts to run X2..

Now, I've got the new box 'live' and working out the last vew kinks.

I can record, play live tv, dvds, music, etc. all good.

BUT! If I hit pause during live TV or I turn off live preview mode, the disk thrashes for 30 seconds, X2 locks up, and then the recording service crashes and X2 frees up again. I can then restart the service and watch TV again.

Interestingly, if I press record from live tv and tell it to record to the end of the show, it's all good.

I'm running the 1.2.9 X2 on Vista Home Premium. The recording service version was uploaded by Sub in response to http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=34457 .

I have PowerDVD installed, XviD codecs, HVR-1600 connected to a cable box through SVideo connector channel control via IR.

I can't remember which log files you might need, but I did grab the crash report from Event Viewer:

Doesn't tell much. I've searched the forums and don't see anything.

Any ideas where I should look for more info?

Thanks

Zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Hi Sub.. Thanks.

I've finally convinced Vista to let me access files in the Program Files directory over the network..

I'm attaching the logs. The ones from 8:15 are the last crash of the recording service.

Tonight when I went to pull the logs off the machine, X2 had crashed, kept coming up with the error and I had to finally kill it with Task Manager.. First time I saw that, but I don't know if the kids did something (they were watching a move, and it seems ejecting a playing movie causes grief somewhere down the rendering chain.) or it could be related to the recording problem I see, or just a fluke. I really don't know.

While I have your ear, I have a separate directory for Video Library, but if I drop a video in over the network, it doesn't show until I restart X2.. I believe it showed if you went to Main and returned in the old gui. Will they show if I leave it for a few hours, or overnight?

Again, thanks,
-Jim

The last message in your log related to trying to use teletext during the recording. Teletext isnt used in Canada, so having it enabled may be causing some unexpected problem. Try disabling teletext in the config app.

Wow. Thanks for a really quick reply.

Well that change did something. If I hit pause on live tv, the service no longer crashes Big Grin ... But it doesn't work properly either. Sad

When I hit pause the screen goes black.
The cable box changes channels (to the same channel: 051).
That's it.. Old UI used to say "preparing for timeshift" or some sort, and then show the timeline and a still. I just see the black screen.
I wait and then hit play and I'm taken directly to the main menu.

Umm.. Never mind.

I went to look at the LiveTV.mpg and see if it was recording. I noticed that the log referred to a different location than where the file was found.

I guess in my tweaking and setting up, I cleared the directory for live TV and it reverted to c:\temp (which doesn't exist) Set it to the original location and pause now works! Thanks a bunch.

KAF (Kid Accept.....) is back again!

Any idea about Video Library refresh, or simply restart the GUI?

Thanks!

The Video Library in both GBPVR.exe and PVRX2.exe will only read a directory when you enter it. If you want it to reread that directory you'll need to go backup up a directory [..], then re-enter the directory.
