Scanning Channels

I have installed 1.2.13 today and have just installed a PVR500 card. I am having trouble getting EPG data in Sydney.
How do I scan for channels without having EPG data present? Or do I need ERG data to scan for channels? There used to be a SCAN button which found channels. Any help would be appreciated.

there has never been a scan button for analog channels
you use the tuning assistant found in the gbpvr folder then write them down and add them manually

Thanks stustunz. That did the trick.
However for the record previously I scanned for available channels via the config application.
