I've noticed that there is an open source project for MHEG5 support on windows (UK teletext, NZ interactive services - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MHEG-5).

As it is written in C#.NET it might be easily integratable with GBPVR using managed/unmanaged code structs

http://code.google.com/p/openmheg/

Only thing is that its GPL3, but I'd take that to mean you publish any integration changes, not the whole of GBPVR. If its a real problem it might be easier to use it as an external program that links in.

Thanks

Sorry, since that project is GPL it means that GB-PVR would need to be open source GPL for it to make use of this.

Bummer.

Our recently introduced Digital DVB-TH System here has spawned a host of boxes/cards with MHEG5 support. Google MHEG5 site:.hk will show a list...

Thats not to say we wont get MHEG-5 support at some stage, but rather than using that project I would have to implement my own support based on the MHEG-5 spec.

I'm not sure I'll get to it any time soon though - there isnt too much of interest on MHEG-5 here. Having to pay several hundred dollars for the spec is also helping to keep it down low on my priority list.

How about if it was done from a GPL'd plugin?

I couldnt do it personally from a GPL'd plugin, because it'd been seen as a blatant attempt to work around the GPL license and I'd still be required to GPL the rest of the app.

No one else would be able to do it from a plugin (GPL'd or not), because they dont have the really low level access into the data stream. Sorry.

Wouldn't you just need to find a mux that is compatible and available through legitimate means as are the BDA MPEG muxes, assuming you don't need digital MPEG and MHEG muxing?

The GB-PVR "TS Mux" option already records the MHEG data within its transport streams. The thing missing is the decoding of this, and the application interation with that decoding for switching pages etc.
