I use hibernate mode. And on wake, I used to restart the GUI and refresh the cards.
But it is much simpler (if not a little longer) to order a reboot of the machine automatically on wake. That way all hardware is refreshed and no problems with lock ups.
AMD Sempron 3000, XP Home SP3, Maxtor 200GB SATA, 512MB, PVR-150, NOVA-T-500, ATI 9550, Silverstone LC13

I use a scheduled task to restart my computer daily, infact I run it twice a day,

Computer in hibernation
wakes up and restarts
downloads epg data
wakes up restarts
Hibernates

I use (this is from memory)

shutdown /f /r

in a .bat file and set the times i want it to happen. I can not remember if this is included in windows or if i found the shutdown.exe somewhere else. In scheduled tasks it looks like

Restart 1 9:00am
EPG download 9:10am
Restart 2 9:20am

I just have the occasional day where i need to go into the system menu option and update epg but otherwise things seem pretty bulletproof.

For now I have given up on standby either using the built in XP powersavings or the MCE standby tool as after it came out of standby it would randomly loose my main recordings drives...quite a shock to go to recordings & find it had dropped from about 67 folders to 3 (I have my movies & music video folders on a different drive) after a reboot they would come back & I was very thankful for recordingdump.xml.

I have a feeling it may have something to do with raid on my motherboard (but it is only a gut feeling after my experience earlier in this thread

I am about to order a 1Tb WD HDD & split the two 320Gb Seagates apart as separate drives & see if that fixes it.
