Hi Crossnet,

not familiar with "answer file" pray elucidate me while I'm bored again backing up some old video files? (I can't mow the lawn as it is now dark here, I've done the dishes, and I do NOT want to look at my cables again......)

Been out of the true IT industry for a while now but never knew this one....

An "answer file" is created by the windows "Setumgr" tool included in Windows XP and NT. It can contain all the configuration info, user name, key, etc. requested by Windows during installation of the OS. Once its created, the entire OS can be installed unattended.

yeah... but that is not nearly as fun as creating your own unattended installation CD with all service packs slipstreamed (and hotfixes if you get really ambitious). you can also set it up to create your user accounts, set passwords, install any applications you want, configure things, and just about anything else that you can do to windows via scripting and slamming the registry Smile
