What format for recordings which I want to keep?

Nope, I don't use dvr-ms, I use MPEG. I've got an ATI HDTV Wonder and it installed the Cyberlink muxer to my PC, which is what I use.

My process is pretty involved, but I've been able to automate it to some extent. If you're interested, here it is:

• run .mpg recording via DGIndex
  
• create Avisynth script
  
• edit Avisynth script to exclude commercials found by comskip (includes manual checking via VirtualDub)
  
• open Avisynth script and AC3 audio in MeGUI (cut commercials from audio)
  
• choose audio and video profiles for encoding
  
• queue auto-encode (output to MKV container)
  
• use TSMuxer to put in .m2ts container
  

Not really sure what .m2ts is. All I know is it's what's supported on the PS3 and has something to do with Blu-ray.
