Apologies if this has already been covered, but I was wondering if it is possible to implement a web controlled backend, similar to MythTV's backend. Sometimes I leave home for days at a time, and it would be handy while on the road to be able to manage what my system is recording as I leave it running 24/7.

There is already a built web server that does this. You enable it in the config app, then visit http://<ipaddress>:7647/gbpvr/index.aspx.
