Hi there, I hope this is Ok to ask here (newbie - sorry!), but I'm having tremendous hassles with a Lifeview DVB-T PCI card I got via Freecycle. The person who gave it away said it was because he'd upgraded to a duo card, and didn't say anything about it not working.
I've installed it on my system (which I am aware only just meets requirements being a 1GHz AMD Athlon with 512Mb RAM), but when I installed the driver from the CD and restarted Windows got to the splash screen and then I got a brief glimpse of a blue screen and the PC restarts. The only way to get it to work is to disable the card in Safe Mode and restart.
I tried updating the driver (tricky as Lifeview's website appears to be off-air) and got the same. Also installed something called Driver Detective to diagnose and update my drivers, it recommended some other driver and now the card reports itself as a SAA7134 TV Card, the driver being from Phillips! However, even with this new driver I still get a crash on startup.
I'm no dummy but at the same time I'm no programmer and this is confusing the heck out of me! Has anyone else had these issues or could someone point out where I may be running in to issues? I'm not sure how to do a system info dump (or whatever it may be:confused so I can post info on the rest of the PC, but if that would be helpful let me know how!!
Any help in this regard would be very gratefully recieved. I'm just glad I didn't pay for this card, with these hassles!
