I have a working gbpvr setup with two WinTV-PVR-150 MCE capture cards. Remote control is via winlirc and irex with a universal remote. I've been receiving over the air analog signals and I'm ready to make the transition to digital. I've ordered my coupons but now I'm stuck.

To control both digital stbs I figure I need a dual blaster - something like the Double Headed blaster from http://www.irblaster.info/

As I understand it the blaster sends all signals to both heads - so I'm thinking it would change both stbs at the same time - always changing them to the same channel. Am I right or am I missing something?

If I am right how do I prevent that? Buy two different branded stbs that use different codes? Buy some special stb that allows me to choose other codes? Or do I need to buy a different kind of blaster?

Any advice? If I've missed some post or wiki page please point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

Thanks,

You are right that in most DEFAULT situations, the codes are sent to all buds therefore changing both STBs. What you need is an IR blaster that will send the IR discretely using and extra program.

I have used the MCE Remote/ Blaster combo with HIP. Hip is able to select which of the buds should fire. Sometimes you will still get the other STB changeing, but that might be just one bud fireing two boxes. You would need a IR tent for each bud then. There's plenty of info on the wiki.

There are other IR software that will work too I think. But your setup, while being the only way you can have two digital tuners like this, is still rare enough that most of the IR software haven't added that feature yet...

I'm using a single headed usb-uirt to control 2 stb's. The boxes are stacked and the blaster is about 8" away and so far works great.
Would think you would need different converters boxes if they were near each other to prevent issues.
