I switched my mux from the Cyberlink 5.0.0.1307 mux to TS mux....when I do this I get high CPU....about 40% or so and the resulting recordings are all digitized/pixilated missing segments, choppy and really just unplayable.

I have attached my recrodingservice log to see if anything sticks out that may be the culprit.

Should any of the options under the Multidec: area on Misc2 tab be checked? None of mine are.

No, none of the multidec settings should be enabled. These are for decrypting encrypted DVB channels.

From our previous thread about it, I really suspect its something to do with HDHomeRun not filtering data (or some network contention related issue), or maybe a problem related to I/O to your drive - the TS Mux writes thousands of tiny 188 byte packets. These arent flushed to disk though, and the drives caching normally does a good job of it.

It might be worth trying a recording to a c:\something directory rather than \\den, since I remember one use user in the past found they got very different performance from the two even though though they were the same machine.

I'm not aware of any other HDHomeRun users having this problem though, so not really sure what to suggest.

Thanks...I was hoping for a "silver bullet" solution.... Wink I'll play around and see what happens.....I know that channel is filtered since I can see the reduction in the network....perhaps the filtering is the problem.

I'll try a couple of other drives as the target and see what happens there as well.

One question....is the high cpu normal when using TS Mux?

No thats not normal. Recording with the TS Mux usually takes only a couple of percent of CPU. Playback of a .ts should be the same as playing back the same show recorded with the Cyberlink mux.

I'll know for sure in the a.m. but I think I figured out the problem.

I had my recording drive set with UNC value even though it is a local connected drive. I changed from UNC to local drive letter mapping and CPU is only at 3% for the recording service and from the 2-3 minute sample I checked there were no breakups.
