Hi

A couple of queries, Is it possible to use the DVD option in GB-PVR to select and play DVD folders on a Hdd??. Was hoping to rip all the kids favourites to Hdd so the disks didn't end up wrecked!!

Also wanted to get the hardware acceleration on my HTPC's graphics card working for the NZ freeview DVB-T viewing. Will forking out for Cyberlink PowerDVD v8 or just the codec work in GB-PVR??? Is there a better option??

As usual, had a quick look through the wiki and forum, but have probably missed the obvious answers.

Thanks

Yeah you should be able to just set up the path and navigate to it with the video library. The dvd will show up as dvdname.dvd just play that

As for the codec, not sure what one you refer to. A few people have the cyberlink powerdvd, but you also need a capable video card...i think the minimum was the Nvidia 8500 and above range.

Geekzone.co.nz I think has a list of the working video cards.

Thanks for the reply

Setting path in video library to DVD folder allows playback of individual VOB files only.

I've currently got a 8600gt card installed so should be OK.

My one doesn't display me the individual vobs but the directory name and .dvd. How did you rip them? I use ether dvdfab decrypter or dvdshrink.

Also you could look at ripping to ISO and then installing Daemon tools.

Ok, so yes you should be ok with that video card. I personally use powerdvd 8 - but I don't use dvb-t much as i dont have a video card or a big tv to put the picture out to. But I have tested it a bit.

nothing special. Bugger I've just shut down the machine that has the dvds on it.....Ahh found one now

So it is Team American.

Has a Team America directory, inside that VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS directories and in VIDEO_TS is the IFO and VOB files.

If you have ripped the entire content, all you need to do is put the videoTS folder inside a parent folder that you name accordingly. For example E:\DVD RIPS\ALIEN RESURRECTION\video_ts
When you navigate to the folder in the video library, GBPVR is clever enough to know it is a DVD and you you can play it without having to select any of the VOB files. You can put a nice folder picture in the parent folder also.
